ATTENDANCE

Attendance requirements are those outlined in the Leland Center Student Handbook. Students may not miss more than three (3) days per semester unless there are mitigating circumstances. Regardless of the circumstances, it is the student’s responsibility to obtain assignments and make up any work missed. Class attendance and participation will be graded on a pass/fail basis and will be included in determining a student’s final grade. Class attendance and participation will count for 10% of the final grade.

READING ASSIGNMENTS

Students are expected to have all assigned readings for the week completed by the time they come to class. The class schedule outlines the weekly reading assignments. Quizzes will be given at the discretion of the instructor if it appears readings are not being completed.

EXAMS

There will be two (2) one-hour exams. The exams will cover information from class lectures & discussion. Exams will not be cumulative. Each exam accounts for 25% of the final grade. Students should plan on taking the exams on the date they are scheduled. Only in special circumstances will a make-up exam be given.

SERMON MANUSCRIPT

Each student will submit a 5-6 page sermon manuscript on any passage of their choosing. This manuscript must follow the format provided by the professor in the Sermon Manuscript Handout. Manuscripts are due on May 3, 2009. Late submissions will be marked down accordingly. The sermon manuscript will account for 20% of the final grade.

SERMON PRACTICUM

Each student will prepare and deliver 2 in-class sermons with a focus on the skills covered in class up to that point. Each sermon shall last no more the 10 minutes. Each sermon counts as 10% (20% collectively) of the final grade.
